Water Treatment Operator 

Job duties include but are not limited to, servicing the water treatment plants to include adding and recording fluoride to the feeders, checking and maintaining chlorine supply and lime slurry supply, record meter readings at all plants and wells morning and afternoon.  Responsibilities will also include keeping the water treatment plants and well sites clean and presentable to include making sure all feeders are operating properly.  Maintenance of the wells and feeders to include changing oil in appropriate equipment and keeping all working parts greased.  Employee will be on call on a rotating basis. Will be responsible for pulling the appropriate number of bacteriological samples and running the bacteriological samples for reporting to SC DHEC. Responsible for using the proper safety equipment including, but not limited to Respirators, SCBA, eye and face protection.  Also responsible for following laboratory procedures, calibration of equipment, security of facilities, PRU’s and sanitary survey preparation, and following the guidelines as set forth in the Employee Policy and Procedure Manual, and to follow any other reasonable instructions from his supervisor. 

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $23.00 an hour

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS 

 Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. 

Possess or obtain a minimum of a Class C SC Water Treatment Operator License within a specified time period. 

Must be able to work with hand tools. 

Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. 

Self-motivated 

Valid South Carolina Drivers’ License. 

Work a set schedule, arriving on time. 

Work in heat and cold. 

General Maintenance and mechanical skills. 

Ability to read and comprehend technical papers, drawings, plans, policies, procedures, technical manuals, software help files, etc. 

Organizational skills. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Creative thinking abilities and problem-solving skills. 

Capable of working overtime during emergency. 

Any water treatment experience a plus!
